The HygieneChek™ TTC Total Count/Yeast & Molds is an easy to use, reliable and economic agar-based test system to check for microbiological contamination in various liquids and on surfaces. It is based on a double-sided agar paddle which is used to detect and identify various microorganisms commonly found in foods, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. Microbiological samples can be taken from liquids and surfaces directly in the processing environment (including production lines), kitchens, cafeterias, supermarkets, military areas and clean rooms. It can also be used for air sampling.
The only equipment required for the HygieneChek™ TTC Total Count/Yeast & Molds is an incubator and optionally a bench top autoclave. The test system consists of a container with a screw cap and a removable paddle. The surface of the paddle is covered on both sides with a nutrient agar medium.
TTC Total count (Agar is white yellow) - Colonies appear in a red color or show a red dot in the centre of the colonies. All red colonies are counted. The final reading of the results should be done 72 hours after incubation. The growth of Staphylococcus and yeasts may be reduced on TTC-containing medium.
Yeasts & Molds (Agar is light brown) - The medium is used for the selective detection of yeasts & molds. Yeasts appear as small white brown colonies with a well defined outline. Molds grow in filamentous shape. Colonies may be colored. They spread rapidly over the agar surface (looks like cotton flakes) and can occupy the whole container. In this case, do not open the container to avoid the spreading of fungal spores.
Scigiene offers a wide range of different agar types and also custom made solutions are possible. HygieneChek™ is also ideally suited for the transport of microbiological samples.
